Fortunately for new city riders, there is a HUGE market of potential city bikes ranging from $400-700. These bikes won’t last forever but if you are going a short distance or need something affordable to get you started then this price range is perfect. As an aside, if you are wanting something reliable for daily riding and maybe some long rides on the weekends then this price range will probably wear out fairly quickly for you.

For many bikes, at the lower end of this price range you are probably looking at a single speed which may not be ideal depending on your terrain and your comfort with biking. Fyxation released a 3-speed version of their popular Pixel city bike which I am oddly really excited about. If at $400 the assembly at the factory is done right then this is a really good bike for the price. Let’s look at the specifications and break down what it all means!
